Maybe Rihanna could have waited longer... (???)

With her first tweet saying "The wait is ova!" Rihanna is making her comeback after her ex-boo daddy Chris Brown went to work on her face this past February right before the Grammys and right after I met her (without makeup too!). With a new single "Russian Roulette" and new blonde cockatoo cowlick hairstyle, RiRi is ready to hit the "scene" again because she can be BAD all by herself! (oooweee!)

Now I don't know how I feel about the song yet (Perez Hilton already said it was boring lol), but this picture made me fall in love with Rihanna all over again. I don't know why, but after her and Chris Brown's rendezvous with each others fist and teeth, the edgy pop princess began to get on my nerve. Don't get me wrong, I felt for her in this tragic and highly publicised situation, BUT the broad was eerkin me!

The new album Rated R is set to release on November 23, 2009 and I am still debated on purchasing it at my favorite first week Target sale for $9.99. Her image was edgy with "Good Girl Gone Bad" but she may be a little too dark and emo for me know. I don't think I've seen her smile in two years. We'll see as the time gets closer!

UPDATE: I am in love with the album and Rihanna. I think releasing her first singe as such a depressing song was not a good move because it doesn't reflect the album well at all. It kind of wild! Rude Boy Is still my jam. Rihanna is already working on another album that will be released this year in 2010. Can't wait!

Think Before You INK: Tattoos in Corporate America (???)

College is the time where many young adults such as myself decide if they are a "tattoo person" or if they are just plain scared of the needle. As our minds begin to mold and overcome some of life toughest lessons, people find different reasons to get tattoos based off of life experiences... or just because they are freakin bored. However, lets look ten years into the future, or even in May when graduation comes around and we are looking for that big time salary job right before we have our 2.5 kids and white picket fence (and don't forget the red cherry wood door!). Will these pieces of art and/or stupid blurred doodles on our body hinder us from making the next appropriate steps in our lives???

As I walk around my campus at California State University, Fullerton, I notice more and more students starting to get numerous tattoos in clearly visible places such as their forearm and behind their ear. Although the college experience is filled with happy hour, parking tickets, and waking up on stranger's couches, in the end the soul purpose for this establishment is to educate us and "better prepare us for the real world" (that statement can definitely be argued, but that's a whole other blog!)

Views have obviously changed over the course of time and tattoo's are more accepted in society as a form of art rather then a mishap at Woodstock or "that one night" in your friend's garage. Many icons such at Kat Von D have made a statement in business and success because of their tattoos and punk rock attitude. Between starring on the TLC show "Miami Ink", then the spin off "LA Ink", and also starting her own makeup line sold in Sephora, Katherine Von Drachenberg has made quite a name for herself. However, at the same time would you trust the Kat Von D we know and love to complete your corporation's year long taxes? (and correctly to get that tax return!)

All of these questions come into play when deciding if cheetah print and stars going down your spine (as BAMB as it may look on RiRi) is going to really be worth it in the long run. Will your astrology sign on your neck present you in a positive light when looking for a corporate job, especially in this recession we are facing when people are constantly being laid off and some are even becoming homeless. Obviously, as college student, we are putting in the time, stress, and MONEY ($$$) to complete this thing called "school" so we can go on to do great things, but that would suck if you were more suitable for a job and in the end didn't get it due to a stupid tattoo you got while drunk OR because of a piece of art that means the world to you...

I personally have two tattoo's and love them and plan on getting more in the future. However, I am always mindful and conscientious of the location and what I am putting on my body because in reality, it's never going to go away. This is a simple concept, yet we see people jump over a cliff and get a tattoo without thought and hate it within a month. I do believe most tattoo's are a beautiful and a way to express oneself, but until society has evolved (or I rule the world), I'm not going to take my chances by getting blunt tattoo on my forehead.

Something to think about, I want to hear what you guys think! Leave a comment and speak your mind :)

Balloon Boy Poser...

Yesterday I was rudely interrupted while watching a doc. about the difficulties of getting an abortion in Mississippi by a tweet from Rev. Run saying a 6-year-old boy was flying over Colorado in a spaceship... Wait, whaaa?! Apparently, there was an uproar across the nation when a young cadet (named "Falcon") climbed into a homemade UFO that resembled a large piece of used foil and/or a giant chicken pot pie and took off for a few hours. Later we found out when the aircraft landed in a field that the "Breaking News" was not so true and "Falcon" was chillin in his attic safely on planet Earth. Many expressed how upset they were via various social networks that their daytime TV program was interrupted and we sadly never got to find out who Cellularphonica's baby-daddy was on Mauryyy.

First off, who names their child "Falcon", but I will say I think the name fits the occasion. Clearly this was an attempt for "Falcon's" parents to get some type of publicity from their little science fair project. But does it really take saying that your poor child "Falcon" has a death wish of falling hundreds of yards into a corn field? Later during a television interview after this trifflin witchcraft, "Falcon" had to leave the set twice to vomit, but was also heard laughing (hmm...).

Falcon's parents were not charged with any fines for the expensive search and rescue (for nothing) and officials are still skeptical as to if this was a hoax or just a simple misunderstanding even though "Falcon" said it was "for show".

This also brought attention to the stunt in 1982 when a man decided to take an airborne cruise around Long Beach, CA in a lawn chair attached with several balloons. He slowly popped the balloons and semi-safely landed in Long Beach Airport. He took Summatime in the LBC to another level...

This odd behavior is beyond me... "Falcon" and this family are officially on my prayer list. That boy just looks bad.

Now she wanna KISS me...

So what would you do to walk home with a FREE Mac Book?? California State University, Fullerton holds a contest every year when whoever "kisses a mac" for the longest gets to keep the overpriced machine. This contest can last from 3 to 6 hours! I personally got to experience the contest last year and I am still suffering from minor back pains that may or may not EVER go away! Coordinators have competitors playing Simon Says and doing other rigorous task until people start to drop like they are catching the Holy Spirit (Amen now!)

I received a text from my good friend Megan Warren at 10AM yesterday morning saying she was going to do it! After my Poli Sci class (which in retaking smh) I rushed over to support. The game starts out with 30 participants but by the time I got there there were only 8 remaining (I guess the God went to work!). After watching in anticipation in the hot sun and the pouring rain (got to love SoCal) there were only four remaining. In a task where the hopeful romantics had to hold their right arm and right leg in front of them at the same time, it can down to the wire!

Almost four hours into the contest, Meeg started having muscle spasms as if she was doing the "funky chicken" and the "stanky leg" at the same time! I thought Team Meeg was done for but I kept cheering with hope alive and still high. As I looked to my left, the girl who was "texting while kissing" started to fall and BOOM she was down for count! WE HAD THIS!!!

"Meeg! She's out! She's out!" I screamed! She got so excited she had overcome the last challenge she jumped up and lost. I stared in awe... and so did the officials. They were not rollin and she was also... down for the count...

The Facebook/Twitter fan club that reached throughout the nation was notified of our unfortunate loss. I was able to speak to Ms. Warren (and her $15 gift card to iTunes) about the 3h and 42m that changed her life forever. She was still in pain. She talked about having to put her entire weight on her front teeth to support herself. This contest is no joke and took physical and mental strength. Megan Warren is a champion in my eyes. Go Meeg, GO!

Hey, Hello, and All that Good Stuff...

So I decided to create a blog as a way to express myself... and just have little fun on the side! My name is Jayce and I was born and raised in Southern California and I still live here now! I will be done with college this coming May 2010 and I am overjoyed and excited to say "adios!" to the education system. I love to smile, I have tattoos, and I live for the random events that take part in life. Curves balls come flying at me and I'm not an athlete (at all!) so sometimes I get cracked in the forehead right below my edge up, but I dust myself off and actively anticipate what God has in store for me next. So yea...that's JBS!

On my blog I will speak on different issues just to pick at my brain and others. I'm a Communications major and my favorite past time is... talking (no lie!). Sometimes I'll be serious (boooo!) but most of the time I'll be goofing off and saying what is on the mind!

With that said... if there are any topics, questions, or request just shout at my Inbox. I'm going to try this whole blog thing out for a change and I truly hope you enjoy :)

Ciao! (haha),
Jayce
